Professional Bio

Yuki Shida is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with 10 years of clinical experience, a certified EMDR therapist, and the founder of a group practice in Irvine, California dedicated to serving the Asian American and Pacific Islander community.

Yuki specializes in working with Asian American children of immigrants navigating anxiety, childhood trauma, and the layered complexity of growing up between cultures. Her clinical approach is trauma-informed and relationally grounded, drawing on EMDR, Gottman Method Level 2, and a deep understanding of how family systems, cultural expectations, and intergenerational dynamics shape the way we see ourselves and the world.

Her connection to this work is personal. Yuki is a second-generation Japanese American, raised by a single mother in California, and Japanese was her first language. As an eldest daughter who has lived in the Bay Area, Los Angeles, Orange County, and Tokyo, she understands firsthand what it means to carry the weight of two worlds and what it takes to find yourself within them.

Yuki believes that the struggles her clients have carried alone are not signs of weakness. They are evidence of resilience. Her work is oriented around helping people recognize that, and then move forward from it, at their own pace, on their own terms.

In addition to her clinical work, Yuki is a California-approved clinical supervisor, supporting the growth of pre-licensed therapists as they develop their own practice. She brings the same intentionality and care to supervision that she brings to the therapy room.

Outside of work, Yuki is a mom of two, has been married for 14 years, and finds meaning in her faith, which she expresses through music. She also loves tackling 1000-piece puzzles, baking, and traveling to Japan to visit family.

If you're looking for a therapist who understands your background, speaks to your experience, and believes wholeheartedly in your capacity to heal Yuki would be glad to connect.
